Books and Publishing Programs

The Arabic Book Program offices in Amman and Cairo translate, publish, and distribute selective books from American publishers, including economics, management, politics, humanities, arts, and the environment. Publication and distribution of Arabic Book Program titles is carried out in cooperation with local publishers. Books published are made available to readers through bookshops at reasonable prices. The Public Affairs Section facilitates contacts for the Arabic Book Program offices within Lebanon.

The Nouveaux Horizons Book Translation Program is based at the U.S. Embassy in Paris. Nouveaux Horizons books have been distributed throughout Francophone Africa since 1962. The Public Affairs Section in Lebanon has been encouraged to work with this program and invites queries from interested distributors and institutions.

English as a Foreign Language books and materials are produced by the State Department in Washington, DC. and distributed with the help of the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan. These materials provide up-to-date teaching protocols and other strategies for enhancing the teaching of English, and are available at very reasonable prices.

• Students who plan to study in the United States should contact the Education Advisor at AMIDEAST at the following numbers: 00-961-1-989901. The AMIDEAST office has reference materials in paper and electronic format to assist in identifying appropriate college and graduate programs and learning the entrance requirements. It also arranges for the student to take required examinations.
