NONIMMIGRANT VISA SERVICES

Visas for Medical Treatment

Individuals can enter the United States on a B-2 visitor visa for medical treatment. Like a visitor for pleasure, you must apply for a visa and establish that you meet all requirements. Procedures for applying are the same as for a B-2 visitor visa, and waiting periods for necessary clearances also apply.

In addition, applicants must bring the following:

  • A diagnosis from the treating doctor about the applicants' medical condition, explaining why the applicant must go to the United States for medical treatment and why treatment cannot be done in Lebanon.
  • A letter from a doctor or hospital in the United States indicating: a willingness to treat the patient; the estimated length of treatment; and the estimated cost of treatment, including doctor's fees, hospitalization, and other expenses.
  • Proof that the applicant, or a sponsor, has sufficient funds to pay for the medical and travel expenses.
