About USEG: The U.S. Educational Group (USEG) is committed
to assisting young men and women of the Arab world in pursuing higher
education. They recognize that international education offers opportunities
to acquire training, knowledge, and understanding which enhance
the individual, the nation and the world. The U.S. Educational Group,
led and staffed by Arabic-speaking educators, trained and experienced
both in the Arab world and in the United States, provides cross-cultural
expertise for Arab students seeking twenty-first century skills
through international education.
About AMIDEAST: AMIDEAST is an American non-governmental
organization that has been providing educational, training, and
development services in Lebanon since 1968. AMIDEAST Lebanon represents
the U.S. Embassy in providing educational advising through its "Education
USA" Center. The "Education USA" library includes
reference books, videos and cd-roms from US universities, and computers
for students to access web-based information about studying in the
U.S. Additional services offered by the center include:
- Free weekly sessions about studying in the United States
- Annual pre-departure orientation workshops on academic, social,
legal, and cultural issues for students already admitted to U.S.
universities
- Administration of US government-funded scholarship programs:
Fulbright scholarships for master's degrees; the Youth Exchange
and Studies program (YES) for high school students; PLUS scholarships
for undergraduate studies, the LINC program for summer exchange
between Lebanese and American high school students; and MEPI-sponsored
business internship program for young women and the MEET U.S.
program for business leaders.
- Research, counseling, and placement services for students interested
in studying in the United States
- Authentication and accreditation for U.S. academic credentials
when students and professionals return to Lebanon
