"Made in America 2004" Trade Fair Will Showcase Over
150 U.S. Companies

Beirut, August 30, 2004 -- U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman announced
that "Made in American 2004" Trade Fair for U.S. goods
and services will showcase over 150 American companies in Beirut
from September 1-3, 2004. Ambassador Feltman announced this event
at the Export Center at the Port of Beirut and was joined by the
President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists Fady Abboud
and the President of the Lebanese-American Chamber of Commerce Salim
Zeeni.
Ms. Holly Vineyard, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for
Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia has traveled specifically
to Lebanon to attend the Trade Fair. Also, the Iraqi Chamber of
Commerce, in addition to a delegation of twenty Iraqi businessmen
will be present at the Fair.
The trade fair will be held at the Export Center and will be open
to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. September 1 -3, 2004.
In September 2003, "Made in America" showcased over 120
U.S. companies, and was an excellent opportunity for U.S. companies
to develop new partnerships in Lebanon and the region. U.S. companies
reported $800,000 in business as a direct result of the event. This
year's trade fair, however, will showcase over 150 U.S. companies.
Involved in many sectors like ICT, health care, building construction,
energy, office furniture, home appliances, environmental technologies
and others."
Among the U.S. companies that will participate are a number that
are new to the Lebanese market like Hard Hat Bid, Quality Care,
Evara Group, and Electric Mobility alongside many familiar names
such as Microsoft, Western Union, Procter & Gamble, General
Electric, IBM, Pfizer, FedEx, Tyson Food, Cisco, HP, 3M, Radio,
Coldwell Bankder, Citibank and other. The U.S. Government, represented
by the Department of State and the Department of Commerce, joint
by their partners in Lebanon intend to make the trade fair an annual
event.
